AMATERAS is a cold-neutron disk-chopper spectrometer newly installed at MLF, J-PARC. The spectrometer has pulse shaping chopper which can cat the source pulse shape as it is required by the experiments. By using newly developed high-speed disk-choppers, the spectrometer realizes both high energy resolution and high intensity with high flexibility in the cold and thermal neutron energy region. The construction of the spectrometer has been completed in spring of 2009. After the commissioning works, now the spectrometer is open to users. In this presentation, we will show the evaluated performances which were obtained in commissioning works.

Relativistic flying mirror experiment is performed by using a high-intense Ti:Sapphire laser with the energy of 520 mJ and the pulse duration of 30 fs at KPSI-JAEA. In this experiment, we observe the generation of XUV lights, and it intensity is in good agreement with the theoretical estimation. We will report the abstract of this study and the detail of the experimental procedure in this meeting.

In URuSi, the electronic property at low temperatures is strongly depends on the quality of sample. Thus, it is necessary to use a very high quality single crystal sample in order to clarify the intrinsic properties. We have succeeded in preparing a very pure single crystal with very small residual resistivity. We report NMR characterization of this sample.

I solve the time-dependent Khon-Sham equation by real-time and -space method to simulate the electron excitation by intense short pulse laser. I found that the electron excitation possibility is changed as rotating the direction of polarization to the crystal. My simulation indicates that this change of electron excitation probability is depends on the change of the region of electron excitation in Bloch phase space. This result indicates also the probe of small region of the crystalline solid and control of electron excitation process by laser field.

Laser ion acceleration has been intensively studied in may institute from the perspective of medical applications. One of the critical issue is to enhance the accelerated ion energy. For that purpose, using a near-critical density target is considered to be beneficial due to the high coupling of laser energy to plasmas. In this research, we studied ion acceleration by using formation of dipole magnetic vortex. The behavior of dipole vortex is complicated, but by controlling them, intense electric field could be induced inside the plasma. We show how to control them and obtain the energy scaling by vortex acceleration.

We determined muon capture probability for cupper, tin and lead atoms in bronze from muonic X-ray measurement. We also performed muon irradiation for old Chinese coin and determined contents of this sample.

Symmetric charge transfer of dysprosium has two reaction paths which are resonant and non-resonant due to open shells of f electrons inside 6s electrons. Formerly, we calculated the cross sections by assuming that the resonant and non-resonant reactions proceed independently in proportion to their statistical weights. However, this assumption is not correct because there are transitions between the resonant and non-resonant states. In the present paper, the cross sections of dysprosium was calculated considering interactions among all resonant and non-resonant states in the impact-parameter method. It was found that the cross sections are much larger than those calculated on the assumption of the independence of the resonant and non-resonant reactions and slightly small compared with the usual symmetric resonance charge transfer. Moreover, the calculated cross sections are very close to the measured values.
